Forgiving Your Ex

We have all heard the saying “forgive and forget” and in some ways this applies well to broken relationships. The only difference is that you never really forget having your heart broken…but you can forgive the person who did it to you.

Part of the healing process after a break up is to forgive your ex, even if they haven’t officially apologized. The more you hold onto feelings of anger and mistrust the longer it will take you to move on to the next chapter in your life. Does this mean you will forget what your ex did? Of course not, but the goal is to remove as many psychological barriers as possible. If you truly want to win back your ex then you cannot let the past interfere.

Some of you may wonder why I suggest letting your ex off the hook after they have hurt you. To this I reply the decision is ultimately up to you. If you are trying to rebuild a broken relationship then you will have to forgive at some point in order to succeed. It all depends on how much you are willing to sacrifice.

You always have options after a break up, but the choices you make will determine your future. Can you not forgive your ex for cheating on you? This is certainly understandable. My point is your relationship will never recover unless you forgive. If you simply can’t then it is time to move on.
